Mr. Ham is a Spanish speaking criminal attorney in San Diego and licensed to practice law in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and before all state courts in the State of California. In 1999, he earned a bachelor of arts from the University of California at Riverside and in 2002, earned a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. In 2002, at age 25, Mr. Ham was admitted and licensed to practice law in the State of California.
Mr. Ham’s success has earned him recognition from Super Lawyers, a distinction limited to only 5% percent of lawyers. In addition, the San Diego Daily Transcript listed Mr. Ham among San Diego’s “Top Attorneys in Criminal Law”. In 2015, Mr. Ham obtained a “not guilty” jury verdict in United States District Court for the Southern District of California. In 2014, Mr. Ham obtained a “not guilty” jury verdict in the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, South County Division. In addition, in 2014, Mr. Ham obtained a “hung jury” in the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, North County Division.
Major Cases
Mr. Ham practices law in the state and federal courts. He has been principal attorney of record in hundreds of criminal cases, including high-profile cases. Some of the significant cases include: major drug trafficking, kidnap for ransom, and conspiracy to commit murder. Mr. Ham has successfully represented individuals facing prison sentences of 25 years to life, as well as life without the possibility of parole. He has fought for and earned complete dismissals before and during jury trials, and at preliminary hearings. His has successfully argued motions to suppress as well as motions to dismiss for violation of speedy trial rights. He has tried multiple cases resulting in not guilty verdicts and has tried cases in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and in each of the four San Diego Court Divisions.
Mr. Ham speaks fluent Spanish and began his criminal defense legal experience as a law clerk for the Legal Aid Society, Federal Defenders of San Diego. and then as a graduate law clerk for the San Diego Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Ham entered private practice in 2003 when he joined a criminal defense law firm. In 2005, Mr. Ham opened his own criminal defense practice.
